By Steve Pavilanis

It is absolutely true that every single one of us goes through different periods in life when we feel nervous and anxious about various things. Regardless of whether this is due to work, relationships, or anything else, you will need to take steps in order to calm your nerves and reduce your anxiety when you find yourself in this position. Here are some tips on how you can do this.

The first thing that you need to do is to recognize your anxiety. This may actually be one of the most difficult steps to take. Sometimes the absolute key to reducing your stress is in recognizing that you are stressed in the first place. You need to look for the signs, such as having heavy breathing, tense shoulders, a burning in the chest, headaches, difficulty sleeping, and other such symptoms.

The first step that you need to take is to control your breathing. When we feel stressed often are breathing goes out of sync. You will, therefore, need to focus on breathing slowly in through your nose, holding for several seconds, and then gradually and slowly reading through your mouth. This is something that you can very easily to wherever you happen to be.

It is important that you release tension from your body. Whenever you are breathing in you can then breathe out and actively focus on releasing the tension from the different areas of your body where you feel most stressed. For example, exhale and actively released the stress from your shoulders. Repeat the process and actively try to release the stress from your chest. Keep doing this until you are relaxed.

Visualizing the important aspects of your life is certainly an important step to take as well. Often we can get bogged down with all of the small fears that we feel. These will often build up to such an extent that they cause a great deal of stress and anxiety within us. In order to get over these small fears you simply need to start thinking about everything that is important in your life instead.

You also need to think about the future and all of the wonderful possibilities that await you. It is great to be in the present and to think about everything that is good right now, but at the same time you need to be forward thinking. Consider your future goals and aspirations and get excited about what you are yet to achieve.

Taking these steps are going to help you to naturally and very quickly reduce your immediate anxiety. All of this can be done regardless of where you are and you should see some immediate results.

You should also be looking to get plenty of exercise. Exercise is extremely helpful in releasing positive endorphins from the body. Endorphins act as a natural antidepressant and will help you feel so much better about everything immediately. Incorporate exercise and a healthy diet into your life and your stress will diminish.
